How to Find Your Perfect Shoe Size: A Complete Guide
Share
Shopping for shoes online is convenient — but only when you know your size. Too tight and you're uncomfortable. Too loose and you're tripping. Here's everything you need to know to find your perfect shoe size when shopping at D'Moda Shoes or anywhere else.
How to Measure Your Feet at Home
You'll need a piece of paper, a pen, and a ruler:
- Place a sheet of paper on a hard floor against a wall.
- Stand on the paper with your heel touching the wall.
- Mark the tip of your longest toe (this is often not the big toe).
- Measure the distance from the wall to your mark in inches or centimeters.
- Measure both feet — most people have one foot slightly larger than the other. Use the larger measurement.
- Compare your measurement to our size chart.
Pro tip: Measure your feet at the end of the day. Feet swell slightly throughout the day, so evening measurements give you the most accurate fit for all-day wear.
US to EU Size Conversion
If you're seeing European sizes on an item, here's a quick reference:
- US 6 = EU 36
- US 7 = EU 37–37.5
- US 8 = EU 38–38.5
- US 9 = EU 39–40
- US 10 = EU 41

Fit Tips by Shoe Style
Heels & Pumps
Our heels run true to size. If you're between sizes, go up half a size — a slightly roomier heel is easier to manage than one that's too tight.
Sandals
Sandals also run true to size. Open-toe styles can accommodate going up half a size if needed.
Ankle Boots
Boots run true to size. If you plan to wear thick socks, consider going up half a size for comfort.
Flats
Flats generally run true to size. Pointed-toe styles tend to feel narrower at the toe — going up half a size in those styles usually helps.
When in Doubt, Size Up
As a general rule: a shoe that's slightly too large is easier to wear than one that's too small. You can use non-slip insoles or heel grips to make a slightly larger shoe work. A shoe that's too tight will cause blisters and discomfort regardless of how beautiful it looks.
